Thanks to Faith Ministries, started by Jack and Frieda Ferrell of Mount Holley in 1975, children from babies to young teens had a happy Christmas on Friday, Dec. 17, at the Mount Holley Housing Authority on Noles Drive.

The children were served refreshments, provided with entertainment, and each child was presented a Christmas gift. Entertainment was provided by magician Monty Madzio of Gastonia, a draftsman for Jewell Building Systems.

The gifts were provided courtesy of the employees of Jewell Building Systems of Dallas. Teresa Sides is manager of the Mount Holley Housing Authority.

"This is the first big party we've had for the children there," said Jack Ferrell, an ordained Baptist who was involved with a prison ministry for 22 years. "There are between 1,600-2,000 kids in Gaston County who are in low income housing.

There are 125 kids in Mount Holley, and most of them were present for the party, along with some of the parents. It was a nice occasion and Frieda and I were happy to be a part of it."

The Ferrells have been married for 44 years. They have two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Their ministry is non-denominational.

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
